Our History
Today’s team of seasoned professionals at Stewart Environmental Consultants,
Inc. grew out of the Environmental Services Division of James H. Stewart and Associates (JHS&A),
a Fort Collins, Colorado company formed in 1957. JHS&A practiced general civil engineering and
land surveying in the western United States on projects that ranged from design and/or construction
management of dams and canals, tunnels and mines, and water and sewer systems to highways and
streets and structural design of commercial buildings.
In 1980, the Environmental Services Division of JHS&A opened a complete
analytical laboratory for the testing and analysis of water, wastewater, soil, and hazardous
wastes. Five years later, the division separated from its parent company and became the
independent firm known today as Stewart Environmental Consultants, Inc.
Stewart Environmental expanded its scope of services and facilities with
the addition of an entire new corporate office and state-of-the-art laboratory in Fort Collins
in 1996. We continue to lead the way in environmental engineering and management and in creating
strategic, real world solutions to today’s complex environmental challenges.
